Our heart for “traveling together” with those in ministry and leadership goes back decades.

We were married in 1986, but our individual ministry began before that as we were both involved as leaders in ministry to children and students. Dave has been the Lead Pastor at New Life for over 30 years and Gena has been the Executive Director of a Pregnancy and Health Center for nearly 15 years. Through our decades of ministry, we have been privileged to walk alongside many pastors and leaders to encourage, support, and listen with empathy.

I have served as the Lead Pastor of New Life Christian Center in California's Central Valley for over 30 years. I have led and served through most church stages… from 80 people to a multi-staff, multi-campus environment with several thousand in attendance. I’ve learned from and been mentored by some amazing people, but often it’s been trial by error!… but God is so gracious through it all.

As our church was finishing a large building project, I found myself in a season of weariness and spiritual dryness, I went on sabbatical and the Lord led me to a healthier way of doing life and ministry WITH Jesus, not just FOR Jesus. Today, more than ever, I am passionate about helping pastors and leaders move one step closer to Jesus and find healthy rhythms of ministry for the long haul.

I graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a degree in Business and Marketing and then received a Masters in Biblical Studies from California Theological Seminary. I am also certified in Spiritual Direction and Coaching from the Soul Shepherding Institute.

I love to engage with others who are serving the Lord, and in my downtime I enjoy mountain biking, golf, reading, and runs in the early morning.

BOOK A SESSION

with Dave

As an Executive Director of a nonprofit organization and a ministry spouse, I know firsthand the challenges of vocational ministry. I understand the loneliness of ministry (even if surrounded by people) and the lack of safe places to process emotions and life situations with honesty and complete confidentiality. I am in a unique position to listen to and understand others in ministry without judgment.

I was struggling through a difficult season of burnout when, in desperation, I went on a “road trip with Jesus”, connected with a soul care ministry, and experienced renewal. It was the concept of Christ’s WITHness that changed how I live my life. After that, I completed a two-year program to receive a certificate in Spiritual Direction through Soul Shepherding Institute.

As a Spiritual Director, it is an honor to hold safe space for individuals to attend to their inner lives and to connect to the presence and activity of God in their daily journey. As I am allowed to travel together with others who authentically engage with God, it is a joy to bear witness to their unfolding understanding of how loved they are - that never gets old!

I attended Westmont College and then graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a degree in Organizational Communication. I have also completed a Spiritual Formation cohort with Fuller Seminary and currently serve as a regional retreat leader with the Network of Evangelical Women in Ministry (NEWIM).

In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with my adult children and grandson, reading, working jigsaw puzzles while listening to worship music, and spending time with God in nature.
